School Council

Waikerie Lutheran Primary School is governed by the School Council.  The School Council is formed annually by the following process:

The Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson are elected at the AGM of Waikerie Lutheran Primary School Incorporated (held at the same time and place of the AGM of the Waikerie Lutheran Parish).

Six representatives are elected by the Waikerie Lutheran Parish, with at least one member from each of the Lutheran congregations at Lowbank, Ramco and Waikerie.

Two parent representatives are elected by the parent body.

The Principal by her/his office, and the Pastor are automatic members of School Council.

 The School Council generally meets monthly during the school year.  This can be varied if the need arises.  School Council deals with the long term planning of the school, governance and policy development and endorsement.

 Day to day concerns are dealt with by the Principal as the School’s CEO in line with the school policies.  Most issues affecting the school are dealt with at this level.  The principal may take issues to the School Council on your behalf.  If, after discussing an issue with the principal, you are still unhappy with the result, you can contact the Chairperson directly or write a letter to School Council via the Secretary of the School Council.  The issues will then be addressed between the Principal and the Chairperson.
