Waikerie Lutheran Primary School Staff


The Staff at Waikerie Lutheran Primary School are committed to helping each child reach their full potential.  Our teachers are registered with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia.  All teachers have received qualifications from Australian tertiary institutions.  As well as secular training, our teachers are required to complete further studey to become accrediated Lutheran Educators.

Staff receive training and ongoing professional development to maintain their skills at the highest level.  This commitment from all staff toward their own excellence flows through to the students in their care.  They aim to provide learning experiences that challenge their students and encourage them to take risks in their learning in a supporting and caring environment.

Waikerie Lutheran Primary School has a dedicated Learning Support Team. Students with specific learning needs are catered for through individual programs, in class support and tailored education plans.

The Administration and Support Staff are always available to assist with administrative, financial and general questions and are available from 8:30am until 4:00pm Monday to Friday.

Mrs Michelle Burns, Year 5 Teacher

Mrs Michelle Burns

Mrs Michelle Burns (nee Schiller) joined the staff in 1999, teaching the Year 5/6 class.  During her employment at WLPS, she has taught years 4/5, 5/6 and 6/7 as well as a stint in the R/1 class.  Mrs Burns went on maternity leave in 2004, during which time she worked in a relief capacity until her return to teaching as a 0.4 FTE teacher in the Year 6/7 class in 2010. In 2012 she returned to full time employment, taking on the role of the Year 4/5 teacher. In 2017 she will be teaching a Year 5 class.

Mrs Burns has an active interest in art, which flows over into her teaching.  She also enjoys singing and can be heard with the choir at the Waikerie Lutheran Church some Sundays.
